Lifeblood does not provide medical supervision; all donors must fulfil Lifeblood donor safety guidelines. Lifeblood doesn’t operate as a medical or hospital facility.
It is the responsibility of the referring doctor to clinically monitor the patient (Lifeblood checks Haemoglobin levels on each visit but doesn’t check ferritin levels) and make any changes to the venesection frequency via the High Ferritin App or notify Lifeblood of significant
changes to the patient’s health.
Donor and Product Safety:
Lifeblood is responsible for therapeutic collection and monitoring safety during the venesection procedure
Lifeblood will inform the patient if at any time the patient is assessed as not meeting Lifeblood criteria for therapeutic donor selection.
Lifeblood reserves the right to refuse to venesect if there is concern for patient safety
The blood donation will be used in clinical or derivative products only if the donor selection guidelines for clinical use are met
Lifeblood will not accept responsibility if the patient does not attend for venesection
Signification Changes to the Patient's Health
Significant changes to the patients Health may include
Hep B,Hep C or HIV.
Pregnant.
Haemoglobin: At least 120g/L(F),130g/L(M).
Poorly controlled or complicated medical conditions. Eg.renal,respiratory or diabetes
Ischemic heart disease.
Other heart disease where cardiac function impaired,chronic arrhythmias requiring treatment to control or poorly controlled
Haemochromatosis complications:cirrhosis and cardiomyopathy
Peripheral vascular disease.
Cerebrovascular disease eg.TIA,CVA.
Psychological or intellectual impairment affecting ability to complete donor questionnaire
Physical impairment affecting ability to donate blood.
The personal information that you enter on this electronic application allows your patient to be registered and enrolled as a Lifeblood therapeutic or normal volunteer blood donor, and for the person to be registered to provide blood for clinical use when donor selection guidelines are met. No personal information will be stored on the therapeutic application. Lifeblood will handle all information received in the strictest confidence in accordance with the Federal Privacy Law.
